Change the way you heal

No, acupuncture doesn’t hurt.

Even those with severe fears say the same thing after treatment: “I’m afraid of needles, but not acupuncture needles!”

It is clear that acupuncture affects the nervous system in a very profound way. Our bodies are protected by tremendously intricate and powerful self-healing mechanisms designed to maintain balance and defend against illnesses, injuries, and pain. When our natural self-healing abilities aren’t working effectively, acupuncture brings the body back into balance, so they can continue once again to protect us.

What to Expect from Your First Acupuncture Appointment:

Let’s talk. Dr. Casado will ask about your chief complaint and possibly more detail about your health history. Don’t be surprised by questions that seem completely unrelated to your health issue, from questions about your sleeping patterns, digestive and urinary function, sexual function, emotional quality, and basic level of stress. These questions are not meant to make you feel uncomfortable; rather, they’re integral in helping Dr. Casado find the source of your discomfort.

Stick out your tongue. In Chinese medicine, the tongue is believed to be the reflection of your overall health, so Dr. Casado will look at the color and quality of the tongue body as the general shape and any deviations in form.

Let’s feel your 18 pulses. There are nine pulse positions on each wrist that indicate what is going on in your body right now. Amazing, isn’t it? Dr. Casado will feel the rate, depth, and quality of those pulses to help direct diagnosis, treatment and herbal prescriptions.

May I press on your abdomen? Abdominal diagnosis is an integral part of the Japanese Kiiko Matsumoto style Dr. Casado practices. Specific points on the abdomen, also called the Hara, are gently pressed to identify a diagnostic pattern and treatment approach. This style of diagnosis and treatment allows Dr. Casado to get real-time results on the treatment table. You will feel the difference.

Let the healing begin. You may feel some discomfort during the insertion of the needles. Don’t worry; this is completely natural. Also natural is an intense emotional reaction to the treatment, from laughter to tears or a total dream-like state. Don’t panic. Your body is achieving balance, so try not to interrupt its progress.
